Education Initiative - 2018
The Xoliswa Bebula Foundation has identified a small village in the Eastern Cape by the name of Rode and aims to expose every child to education and build God’s foundation in their lives. The small village is situated in one of the poorest provinces in South Africa with the highest unemployment rate.
In 2016, the Foundation encouraged youth to come together and form sporting clubs so they would be kept occupied and engaged. Starting as a soccer tournament, we have seen this initiative evolve into a recurring annual display featuring more than just soccer, but netball and other talent showcasing activities as well.
Ms Lady Bird Johnson, former First Lady of the United States, said "Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them".
The Foundation hopes to make a meaningful contribution by investing in children. We gave students from Rode Primary School uniforms and diaries. The rationale behind issuing diaries was to introduce the children to the habit of planning. We believe in the culture of planning and of building strong characters, both of which are essential for success.
